Sylvia Salazar - 2013 Summer Intern

In the summer of 2008 I began to work with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) of Greater Denver. It was an amazing experience to attend Christian Youth In Action (CYIA) and to learn to teach children effectively. I have seen God use me to reach kids with the gospel. As it turns out, He’s not done with me yet.

I have recently been accepted to work with CEF of Wyoming as a Summer Intern to help with supervision of CYIA missionaries in the state. This activity will include evaluating and transporting groups of teen teachers as they evangelize boys and girls in 5-Day Clubs, Vacation Bible Schools, Day Camp, and counseling in Camp Good News. I am praying this experience will provide me with leadership skills and a broader insight into missions for future service. I think my past experience with CEF as a CYIA missionary has prepared me for this next level in ministry.

CEF is a faith mission depending on God to call a ministry team dedicated to meeting the prayer and financial needs of CEF’s Summer Intern ministry. Would you be willing to support this summer intern ministry with your financial support? Each one who partners financially will also be asked to pray for my spiritual preparation and financial support. CEF has established an account for the summer intern’s support. You can make a secure online donation by credit/debit card or PayPal:

My deepest thanks to you for your prayerful consideration of this exciting endeavor to serve once again in the CEF ministry of Wyoming. May God bless you richly as we partner together to reach the children of Wyoming with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Salazar

I wanted to serve God with my summer, and He has given me an exciting way to do this! I am doing summer missions with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), a global organization that ministers to kids in over 180 nations around the world.

The program is Christian Youth In Action (CYIA). I will work with other students my age to learn how to reach the next generation for Christ. We will be in training camp from June 7-21. Then we will go out into communities across the city to share Christ’s love!

I will spend two full weeks within the six-county Denver area teaching 5-Day Clubs with my teammates. The 5-Day Club is a 90-minute program for kids with high energy games, a Bible lesson that presents the gospel, songs, a missionary story, and more. It is kind of like VBS on the road! Kids learn the gospel and have a great time, all in a positive environment. We will give each child the opportunity to respond personally to the gospel teaching.

We will be going to public parks, community centers, multi-housing complexes, and anywhere else children might gather. CEF finds that there are a lot of kids who will come to 5-Day Club in the public park that might not go to church on Sunday morning. Pray that we will be able to reach many children and families who need Christ!

I will work with kids of all ages. The Bible says: “So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase” (1 Cor 3:7). I am excited about the planting and watering I get to do this summer, and I am trusting God to give the increase. Pray for hearts and minds to be open.

I need to raise $550 for the entire four weeks of ministry. Would you prayerfully consider supporting me? You can make a secure online donation by credit/debit card or PayPal:

Please also consider partnering with me in prayer. If you would like one of my prayer bookmarks, please contact the CEF office. Thank you for being a part of my summer!

Then the last two weeks of July, I will join over 150 CEF volunteers from around the country in Denver for Good News Across America. We are partnering with 30 churches in the six-county Denver area. Each church will do three 5-Day Clubs in their community. At the end of the clubs on Friday night, each church will invite the children and families to a rally back at its facility. Through this outreach, we are laying the foundation to start 30 new after-school CEF clubs in the fall!

I need to raise $1,200 for the entire summer of ministry. Would you prayerfully consider supporting me? You can make a secure online donation by credit/debit card or PayPal:

Margaret & Laura Stretcher

Greetings from Margaret and Laura! We have been finishing a busy school year. Laura (14) just finished 8th grade and Margaret (16) finished 11th grade. We spent lots of time with our family as well as working and ministering with kids in our community.

Last summer Laura and I were blessed to be in Christian Youth In Action (CYIA), a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). We were able to reach over 400 kids with the gospel in Wyoming and Colorado. More than 50 kids accepted Christ! It was an amazing experience, and we both feel that we grew closer to God through our work.

This summer we have been given the opportunity to participate in CYIA again, and we are overjoyed! We have training camp June 7-14. Then June 17-August 9 we will be teaching the Bible in 5-Day Clubs. We have three main goals in these clubs: (1) To evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ. (2) To disciple them through God’s Word. (3) To establish them in local Bible-believing churches.

We will teach the kids songs, games, Bible verses, missionary stories, and Bible stories. We take this work very seriously and spend lots of time learning our materials and praying for the children. We are planning clubs all over Colorado this year. Some of the locations include: Loveland, Ft. Collins, Greeley, Windsor, Briggsdale, Ramah, Gill, Galeton, Simla, and Colorado Springs.

None of this work would be possible without support from our family and friends. To teach for a full summer Laura needs to raise $1,800 and Margaret needs $1,800. If you can support us financially, we would be extremely grateful! You can make a secure online donation by credit/debit card or PayPal:

We also need many prayers during our work this summer. This ministry is exceedingly fruitful; consequently, we are under constant spiritual attack. Please pray for our strength (physical and spiritual), good weather and travel conditions, and above all else the children. Pray that many would attend clubs and that their minds would be completely open to the truth of God’s Word. If you would like one of our prayer bookmarks, contact the CEF office.

Margaret has been given the chance to go to Jamaica for a one-week CEF mission trip in November. This trip is to minister to children in schools through gospel presentations. Please pray about supporting this trip financially and prayerfully.

We are so excited about these chances to serve and to minister. We are seeking your support and prayers for this mission opportunity. Thank you so much!

My heart is to serve God this summer, and He has given me an exciting way to do this! I will be doing summer missions with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), a global organization bringing the gospel to kids in over 180 nations around the world.

The program is Christian Youth In Action (CYIA). I will work with other students my age to share the gospel with kids. We will be in training from June 7-21. Following training camp, I am going with the rest of the CYIA team to teach 5-Day Clubs for two weeks in the Denver metro area.

A 5-Day Club is like Vacation Bible School on the road. Each club is 1 ½ hours. We play high-energy games, teach a hands-on Bible lesson, sing energizing songs, tell a missionary story, and more. The kids will be able to hear the gospel while having fun. We will give the children an opportunity to personally accept the free gift of salvation that Jesus is offering them.

Last summer when I traveled to Peru, the part that stuck out the most to me was teaching kids about Christ. This summer I have a wonderful opportunity to teach kids about Christ in my own community. I will be able to carry the passion I had in Peru to a place just barely out of my own backyard! With my team, we will go to both rich and poor neighborhoods and teach kids from preschool all the way up to elementary age, some of which may have never heard the gospel preached!

The reason I am so passionate about teaching kids is because kids are the next generation. If we show the gospel to a child, they can share Jesus with their families. We need to raise up our future leaders in a Christ-like way. And one way of doing this is teaching 5-Day Clubs in the community.

Lastly is the financial part of this. I need to raise $550 for the entire four weeks of ministry. Please prayerfully consider whether God would have you support me in this. Would you prayerfully consider supporting me? You can make a secure online donation by credit/debit card or PayPal:

Please also consider partnering with me in prayer. If you would like one of my prayer bookmarks, please contact the CEF office. Thank you for being part of my summer!
